BORDERS BOWEN THERAPY

SUSIE ORR, Dip. BTAA

GATTONSIDE, MELROSE, SCOTTISH BORDERS

I've been in the complementary health field since 1993, initially qualifying in Edinburgh. My family moved to Brisbane in 2007. It was in Australia, the birthplace of Bowen Therapy, that I sought out a Bowen Therapist to treat a chronic shoulder injury. The results were so impressive that after my second session, I signed up to study the technique! Sixteen years on, we returned home to Gattonside, situated on the opposite bank of the River Tweed to Melrose. We’re within easy driving distance of Galashiels, Lauder, Tweedbank, Earlston, Darnick, Melrose, Bowden and surrounds and have ample free on-street parking

In addition to qualifying with an Advanced Diploma in Bowen Therapy, I studied and taught Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Chair + Gentle Somatic Yoga (GSY) in Brisbane for five years. I’m particularly drawn to Gentle Somatic Yoga®, based on Hanna Somatics, Feldenkreis and The Alexander Technique. This slow, mindful practice not only eases my aches and pains, but those of my Bowen clients and yoga students

If you’re interested in GSY®, Chair Yoga, or a Yoga and Pilates Fusion class, please get in touch. Pilates is a full-body exercise system that primarily strengthens the core, improves flexibility and posture, and promotes balanced muscle development on the front, back and side of the body. Like Bowen therapy and GSY, these benefits collectively lead to better physical alignment, reduced back pain, and a heightened sense of mindfulness and body awareness. In addition, Pilates exercises actively engage and tone the pelvic floor muscles, helping prevent stress incontinence

Relax and release long-held muscle tension. Unwind from physical and mental tension, slow down a busy mind, and move with greater comfort and ease with Bowen Therapy and Yoga

Bowen Therapy's precise, gentle rolling movements over muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia, has the aim of releasing muscle tension, improving flexibility, posture and range of movement whilst soothing the nervous system

Yoga’s benefits include improving physical health through increased flexibility, strength, and balance, as well as enhancing mental well-being by reducing stress and promoting clarity and mindfulness. Gentle Somatic Yoga(R) may improve posture and assist with conditions like chronic pain, chronic fatigue, stress, anxiety and depression
